A general public and patient resource from Grünenthal Meds

Grünenthal Meds is pleased to inform healthcare professionals about www.talkaboutconstipation.com. This new resource is for people who are taking opioids for pain, and who are experiencing constipation and constipation-related symptoms. Its aim is to increase awareness of the link between opioid usage and constipation and to help and encourage patients suffering from opioid-induced constipation (OIC) to speak about their symptoms to their healthcare professional.

Opioid-induced constipation (OIC) impacts the quality of life of many patients, with up to 81% of chronic pain patients on opioids estimated to be struggling with OIC, despite taking laxatives.1

Despite this high prevalence, OIC remains under-recognised and under-treated, and its true impact on well-being and quality of life may be underestimated.2

The website includes practical information to assist patients and caregivers to identify and track the symptoms of OIC and encourages patients concerned that they may have OIC, to consult their healthcare professional for advice and support.
