MOVENTIG

How to Prescribe MOVENTIG¹

Use MOVENTIG in patients with OIC symptoms after 4 days’ laxative treatment. MOVENTIG may be used with or without laxatives.

MOVENTIG 25 mg is a convenient once daily tablet to be taken:

• In the morning to avoid having a bowel movement during the night
• On an empty stomach at least 30 minutes prior to the first meal of the day or two hours after the first meal of the day (a meal rich in fat increases the amount and speed of absorption of MOVENTIG)
• For patients who are unable to swallow the tablet whole, the tablet can be crushed to a powder and mixed in half a glass of water (120 ml) and drunk immediately. The glass should be rinsed with a further half glass of water (120 ml) and the contents drunk
• Can be administered by nasogastric tube (CH8 or greater). Refer to section 6.6 of the SmPC for further information on administration through a nasogastric tube

MOVENTIG is contraindicated in patients with: 

• Known or suspected GI obstruction or in patients at increased risk of recurrent obstruction, due to potential for GI perforation
• Concomitant use of strong CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers
• Patients with underlying cancer who are at heightened risk of GI perforation, such as those with:
  • Underlying malignancies of GI tract of peritoneum
  • Recurrent or advanced ovarian cancer
  • Vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor treatment
