Prescribing SANCUSO

SANCUSO dosing and administration1,2

The recommended dose of SANCUSO is one single transdermal patch.1 Each patch contains 34.3 mg of granisetron, releasing 3.1 mg of granisetron in 24 hours.1 Granisetron is a ‘5-HT receptor antagonist’, which counteracts the effects of serotonin.1 Serotonin is a natural substance in the body that occurs at higher levels due to chemotherapy treatment, leading to potential nausea and vomiting symptoms.3

The medicine in the SANCUSO transdermal patch passes gradually through the skin into the body and, therefore, the patch is applied 24 to 48 hours before the start of chemotherapy treatment.2

Route of administration: transdermal application

SANCUSO should be applied to clean, dry, intact healthy skin on the outer part of the upper arm.1 It should not be placed on skin that is red, irritated or damaged.1 If it is not possible to apply the transdermal patch to the arm, it can be applied to the abdomen.1

SANCUSO is a thin, clear, rectangular-shaped transdermal patch with rounded corners and measures 52 cm2, or approximately 2.5 x 3.0 inches.1 Each patch is packed in a sachet and should be applied directly after the sachet has been opened.1

Duration of treatment

SANCUSO can be worn for up to 7 days depending on the duration of the chemotherapy regimen.2 The transdermal patch should be removed a minimum of 24 hours after completion of chemotherapy.2
